![]() The thematic presence was that of morality and responsibility, which I feel Lynch wrote brilliantly. However, by the conclusion it was the humanity of the characters which I felt made me simply care about if they lived or died. The depth Lynch buried into each of his characters can easily be overshadowed by the merriment of the larger tale. Throughout this novel there was no lesson I thought carried as much weight. The Lies of Locke Lamora is structured in a liner frame with several flashbacks to Lamora’s time as a child, when he learns his first lesson, the price of a human life. Lamora is first introduced to readers as orphan sold into the pickpocketing trade at the House of Perelandro, taken in by Father Chains (for a price) Lamora meets fellow children Calo and Galdo, Jean, Sabetha and later accepts in Bug as his own apprentice. ![]() The story is led by Locke Lamora a cunning riffraff who spearheads the Gentleman Bastards. The first instalment in the Gentleman Bastard series by author Scott Lynch this story is a merry mystery that revolutionises the depiction of typical themes within the fantasy genre. ![]() ![]() The Lies of Locke Lamora is the tale of an honest liar just trying to pull off his biggest heist. ![]()
